Bronze porthole / ship’s portlight, 20’s – 30’s – England
Exceptional English bronze porthole or ship’s portlight, original from the 20’s or 30’s of the 20th century. A porthole is a circular shaped window used in architecture, aircraft, ships or nautical construction. The need for the circular shape is due to the fact that it reduces the longitudinal and transverse stresses produced by vibrations. This results in greater strength.
Aged bronze shows a warm patina, a sign of the passage of time. It can be used as a historical object, turned into a mirror or side table, or placed on a wall as a decorative and original architectural element. A nautical relic, perfect for any lover of naval themes.
Dimensions: 53 x 53 x 15 cm / Glass: 35 x 35 cm.
