This revolving mirror has been made out of cast iron in the third quarter of the nineteenth century in a German art foundry. It has been cast fom a beautifully molded modell and has a rich and sumptuous feel to it.
It celebrates the autumn, vine leaves, vine and grapes. In antiquity it might be associated with the Dionysos or Bacchus cult. It certainly graced the home of wine lovers.
