A most important antique English silver plated centerpiece / six-light candelabra by the top-notch silversmith, Elkington and Co. with a date letter (F) for the year 1868.
In the Rococo revival style with abundant scroll and acanthus leaf decoration, the six lights joined to the spiraling stem by twisting bifurcated branches. Each of the three branches is removable and numbered 1 to 3.
A gilded vine wraps around the piece with two wonderful cherubs or putti figures holding on, the whole supported on an openwork triform base.
A truly rare and highly sought-after piece in excellent condition. A grand impressive piece spanning 18″ across the branches x 34″ tall.
