A quite stunning French cut crystal inkwell of substantial size, with extremely elegantly worked neoclassical mounts, intricate scrolling filigree and very finely detailed sphinx’s as the feet. The level of detail on this impressively sized piece is quite extradentary. On top of the lid is a fine mount of a sphinx, whilst entwined around the lid are leaves. The front depicts two maidens holding up bunches of grapes with a crowned eagle resting on lightning bolts
