Large, Victorian, sterling silver-mounted Royal Doulton claret jug (Royal Doulton mark is on underside of claret jug) with sterling silver hinged lid, London, year hallmarked on sterling silver for 1870, Henry William Curry – maker. Claret jug measures 8 1/4 inches high (to top of finial which itself is 3/4 of an inch high) x 5 3/4 inches diameter at widest point. Scenes on pottery are pastoral. There is some minor rubbing to the finish of the top of the handle (see photos) that is commensurate with age and use. Dark areas on silver in photos are reflections. In very good antique condition.
