Large carved English solid walnut hall stand has all of the original hardware which is heavy cast brass and has been polished and lacquered for easy maintenance. The top half is profusely carved with intricate urns, arabesques, and baskets of grapes and pomegranates. The top has a deep cornice carved with acanthus leaves. The center arch has a deeply carved scallop shell resting on floral arabesques. The center cartouche has an acanthus leaf in a stylized shell. The crest also has semicircular rosettes. The side support columns have ionic capitals on top of fluted columns. The original mirror has a 1 1/4” bevel and is surrounded by carved moldings. (The mirror has some distress from age). The base has a center drawer with a large carved walnut lion’s head. The apron has deep gadrooned carvings. The front supports are fluted columns and the base has carved bullnose molding atop a straight plinth base that rests on bun feet.
