An antique Grainger Worcester porcelain shell shaped salt dating from around 1860. The finely made salt stands raised on a shaped rectangular pedestal base and is modelled with a dolphin resting on the base with its tail raised in the Air and supporting a large clam shaped shell. The slat is well modelled with god detail and pattering with only minimal painting to the shell with tones of pink and orange applied around the edge and to the inner outer edges of the shell dish. With gilded detailing to the edges and to the face of the dolphin the salt is naturally glazed with a light cream colored finish. The salt is numbered 643 and has a red written signature mark to the base for Grainger Worcester.
