A wonderful example of a circa 1870 German Folk Art naïve military scene in townscape annotated to celebrate a soldier. In ceremonial regalia in watercolour & gouache framed in its period maple frame. The detail across this painting is quite special, horse drawn carriages, gentleman with top hats and canes, soldiers standing to attention, children playing men secretly smoking behind trees and 2 dogs having sex, it can all be found this painting, a photograph is also attached likely of the soldier to whom this painting was dedicated to. This painting is untouched in form and truly a very special example.
