This Cockscomb and Currants (aka grapes and oak leaf) applique quilt is done with very Fine stitching. The quilting depicts patterns of ferns and a variety of leaves. The applique border beautifully repeats the arms of the primary blocks to create a graceful frame.
The quilt is in pristine, unwashed condition. It is believed to have been made by Miss Effie Kinder in Jackson, Missouri; circa 1870.
