Clare Romano (1922–2019) was an American artist and printmaker known for her innovative contributions to the field of printmaking. She was born in New York City and studied at the Art Students League of New York, Columbia University, and the New School for Social Research.
Romano was particularly renowned for her expertise in various printmaking techniques, including etching, woodcut, and collagraph. She often combined these techniques to create visually striking and textured prints. Throughout her career, she taught at numerous institutions, including Pratt Institute, Columbia University, and the New School for Social Research. Her work has been exhibited extensively in the United States and abroad, and she received several awards and honors for her contributions to the arts. Romano also co-authored several books on printmaking, sharing her knowledge and expertise with future generations of artists.
