Most often, Barnraising quilts are laid out on a diamond. In this quilt, it is done on square.
The quilt is made entirely of wools with a cotton flannel backing. It has a nice arrangement of lights and darks. Red centers add a some “pop” to the muted colors. Condition is excellent.
The quilt is from a Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Mennonite family. Measurements are 68″ x 70″. Made circa 1880’s.
