A Victorian mahogany tripod folding campaign easel, all three legs with lockable brass hinges, the two outer legs with 13 peg holes, the central one with a tapered end and two additional hinges, two pegs, standing more than 6 feet tall when open and folding down to 39 inches by 6 ¼ inches for travelling. English circa 1860.
Drawing was a required skill for many serving soldiers, making this a necessary piece of equipment.
