19th century French Louis XV walnut nightstand ~ end table is remarkable in that it’s carved on all four sides with wonderful Rococo motifs, making it a good choice for a seating group in the middle of the room, or as a charming bedside companion! The luxurious appearance of fine French walnut has made it a prized material for the best furniture crafters for centuries. This example features a tailored top with similarly unadorned full-width drawer, but the remainder of the piece is a splendid testament to the style, with shell and foliate motifs in profusion on the three solid sides, the contoured apron, and the elegant cabriole legs. Note the attention to sculpted detail on the foliage and escargots depicted on each of the four feet.
