Designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1969 for Cassina, the Soriana lounge chair is a piece of design history. Here we have a completely original vintage example in original velvet corduroy upholstery. Both pieces in this set are marked with original manufacturer’s and importer’s label. More images upon request.

The padding of Soriana is made of polyurethane foam and Dacron fiberfill, upholstered with wool or leather and enveloped by a clamp made of chromed steel. Two parts compose the external cage. Two steel plates link them with the basis. Then, two covered buttons on the sides of the backrest link the coating with the external support elements. Furthermore, two covered buttons placed on the front of the backrest tighten the upholstery to improve the shape. This is possible since a wire links them with two plastic supports embedded in the back of the clamp. There are four covered buttons on the seat linked with the base. The two-seater sofa presents, likewise, two clamps. Moreover, the three-seater one shows three clamps. The base is made of black lacquered beech.

In 1970, Soriana won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro prize at the Milan Triennale for the “complexity of the image achieved with construction and technical means of remarkable simplicity and consistency.” In 1980 Cassina stopped producing the original piece.

Excellent condition Modern Vitsoe by Dieter Rams 620 Olive Leather Chair & Ottoman purchased in 2021. Orig receipt from 2021 from Vitsoe. This beautiful highly designed chair was originally designed in 1962 and is a modular system. The rich leather is full-grain, chrome tanned and aniline dyed. The surface structure does not have any coating, making it breathable and comfortable. The leather will develop an enviable patina with age.

This Vitsoe by Dieter Rams 620 Olive Leather Chair & Ottoman was purchased in 2021. It has very few signs of wear, as it was barely used and was an accent peice in our home.

This piece is realized following the model of the armchair designed by Giò Ponti for a cover of the magazine “Stile”, a magazine of the 40s founded by Gio Ponti on architecture .
This model is quite rare and was probably commissioned by Giò Ponti himself or realized following the magazine project.
The structure and the upholstery of both the ottoman and the lounge chair are in good original condition, but the fabric is old.
It’s not the original fabric: it is probably a 70s fabric.
This lounge chair is a vintage piece, therefore it might show slight traces of use, but it can be considered as in very good original condition.
The fabric needs to be changed.

This Space Age fiberglass armchair with hocker, the “Orchidée,” was one of the Cadestin models commissioned by the Centre Pompidou Museum. The design dates back to 1968 and was manufactured by Airborne International (France).
