Elegant French Louis XVI demilune marble top commode or console is a remarkable work of art: it features a fully curved casework in a demilune form that presents no corners or sharp edges into the room at all. Hand-crafted from walnut and inlaid fruitwood, its neoclassical design includes bold bronze florets in full relief atop fluted pilasters that flank the three curved dovetailed drawers. Each drawer features a rounded inlaid front with stunning marquetry, and raised brass molding around each panel, accented with bronze ribbon pulls and the top drawer with intricate knobs. with all panels designed to accentuate the natural beauty of the wood. Topped with richly veined marble that has been contoured and beveled to match the casework below, and supported by tapered reeded legs with brass feet and topped with brass ringed accents.

A most handsome French early 19th century Louis XV period walnut petite commode. The chest is raised by elegant tapered short cabriole legs, and above the fine shaped frieze are three drawers, each with its original exquisite richly done circular foliate bronze pull, their original bronze keyhole escutcheons and richly chased circular foliate pulls. The corners also display superb foliate pediments, and the Commode has its original key. All beautiful bookmatched walnut grain and patina throughout. #6080

18th Century Louis XV Chest Snail Feet. The yellow and blue paint has probably been touched up over the years due to age. The faux marbling is original to the piece. Well built and pics are very accurate.

A beautiful example of a period Louis XV writing desk, this cherrywood commode scriban was hand-carved in Bordeaux, France, in the 1700s. Resembling a chest of drawers with an angled top, the tilted surface folds down and is supported by well-engineered iron arms, large bronze hinges, and a pull-out guide rail with a bronze foliate pull. Behind the writing surface is a two-tiered shelving system, with four small drawers (round wooden pulls) flanking an open compartment on the lower level.

The well-carved chest of drawers below features supple curves to the front façade and both sides, enhanced by the four cabriole legs that support the desk. Both front feet have been carved with volute terminals, while the back feet are shaped blocks. The highly sinuous apron runs along the sides and the front, further accentuating the elegant shape of commode section. Two full-length drawers with asymmetrical floral and foliate handles (in bronze) are set beneath two half-drawers with identical mounts. The handles of the longer drawers flank a bronze cartouche escutcheon, while a faux keyplate can be seen on the rectangular mullion that separates the two half-drawers. Our 18th-century cherry commode scriban would make a wonderful addition to an office, study, or library.
