A large Arts & Crafts ‘Clutha’ art glass bowl designed by Christopher Dresser (British, 1834-1904) attributed to Thomas Webb and dated 1879. The bowl is of distinctive wide rounded shape standing on a wide round foot with short conical shaped body with a narrow round opening and with an extended flat wide rim. The hand-blown glass bowl has ‘Clutha’ bubble inclusions and is made in green glass with a recessed polished pontil mark to the base. The bowl has faint etched marks CD and 79 believed to denote Christopher Dresser and the date 1879 and possibly a design which inspired the later and similar designs produced by James Couper & Sons in Glasgow, Scotland.
