This is a wonderful example of the form. Two-handled, within sinuous border and raised on bun feet, the base is fitted with a water compartment complete with original silver plated stopper. The cover is lobed rising to a boldly moulded leafy handle. As an added ornament it is engraved with an armorial on two sides.
As I look through the many variants of chaffing and entree dishes I can find no other like this.
