A fine antique Wedgwood majolica pewter mounted pottery jug decorated with fruiting vines and with date code for 1860. The jug stands raised on a round pedestal foot with recessed base with a round cylindrical shaped body with rounded shoulders and narrow cylindrical shaped neck applied with ring designs in relief. The jug has a looped and grooved handle applied to the side with a pewter mounted hinged cover with folding thumb piece attached to the top. The jug is hand painted in typical bright majolica tones of blue, green, yellow and brown with mauve painted flowers and with customary light turquoise glazes to the inner jug. The base has an impressed WEDGWOOD mark along with a date mark for the 1860.
In good condition with light wear associated with age and use.
