Both the silver plated knives and forks are beautifully decorated and each marked by the famous silversmith, Martin Hall.
Martin Hall & Co was one of the best known British manufacturers and participated to many international exhibitions including the Crystal Palace 1851 Great Exhibition.
Each piece is also lucky enough to have a design registration lozenge mark which allows us to date the design to 12th December 1860.
The case has a beautiful label for the retailer, William C Shaw of Glasgow; well known as a clock and watch maker and was also a silversmith.
A truly fine set in excellent condition. Each knife measures 8 3/4″ in length and each fork, 7 1/4″. The box measures 12 1/2″ x 10 1/4″ x 3 1/4″.
